Irish gaming operator Paddy Power has announced the acquisition of independent bookmakers – Hacketts, who currently operate nine betting shops in the Irish regions of Limerick, Dublin, Clonmel, Templemore and Tullamore. The deal is set to be finalized in 2014
The acquired betting shops are set to be re-branded and re-decorated in the Paddy Power. The acquisition of Hacketts betting shops will increase the number of Paddy Power outlets to 232. Davisdorf is directed by Cyril Hackett and his wife Monica. Hackett established the betting chain in 1965, Hacketts had described itself as Ireland’s largest independent bookmaker and prior to the sale of the nine stores had over 50 outlets around Ireland.
In November, Boylesports said it had bought Tom Flood Bookmakers, acquiring seven outlets in the Dublin region. It will invest €3m in the shops. The acquisition brought to 192 the number of shops in the Boylesports portfolio.
