NBA maintains Genius and Sportradar as lead betting data suppliers

The NBA will maintain its existing data supplier arrangement for the global sports betting sector, continuing to utilise Genius Sports and Sportradar as lead distributors for bookmakers and wagering-related activities.

The arrangement will continue to see Sportradar act as lead NBA and WNBA for data distributor US and global sports betting markets, as Genius maintains its position as an NBA data distributor for regulated US wagering incumbents.

In its announcement, the NBA stated that it saw no need to change its current structure by offering exclusivity of service to a data supplier as Genius and Sportradar had delivered a combined 20 partnerships since the federal repeal of PASPA laws.

NBA Senior VP for fantasy Sports and Gaming Scott Kaufman-Ross backed the strategic decision, noting that NBA had secured the highest coverage and integrity arrangements by maintaining a two-fold supplier arrangement.

“Over the past two seasons, Sportradar and Genius Sports Group have been sourced for official NBA betting data, which is crucial for authorised gaming operators and ultimately fans who engage with NBA and WNBA games through betting,” said Kaufman-Ross.

“The US sports betting industry has recognised the value of official data, particularly for in-play betting, and these extensions will ensure operators continue to have access to our real-time feed as sports betting develops throughout the US.”

Interest in the global sports data market had increased significantly following last week’s news that Genius will pursue a New York Exchange listing partnership with ‘special purpose acquisition company’ dMY Technology.
