Scientific Games confirms Michael Eklund as inbound Group CFO

Scientific Games Corporation (SGC) has confirmed the inbound appointment of Michael Eklund as Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Eklund will join SGC’s executive leadership team on 1 June, taking control of the Nasdaq technology group’s financial planning, auditing and capitalisation structures.

The appointment sees SGC secure a leading CFO for large scale technology enterprises, with Eklund having previously led diverse financial units of blue-chip multinational IT services and computer manufacturer Dell over a 20-year executive period.

Most recently, Eklund served as Group CFO of North American consumer and retail data supplier IRI.

Eklund joins SGC as the technology group prepares to restart its business units following a period of lockdown, which saw Q1 group cash activities drop to $120 million.

Nevertheless, undertaking early actions against virus circumstances, SGC was able to secure a further $150 million in working capital, which the company will use to accelerate its recovery during the second half of 2020.

Backing the appointment of Eklund, SGC Group CEO Barry Cottle said: “Mike Quartieri has done an outstanding job over the last four years building a world-class financial team, revitalizing our financial management and refinancing our debt.  The Board of Directors and I are very grateful for Mike’s constant dedication to the success of the Company and its people.

“We are very fortunate to have Mike Eklund join us starting on June 1.  He has a wealth of experience in financial and operational leadership and a passion for aligning all aspects of a company’s finance and operations with its core business model that positions him well to build on Mike Quartieri’s legacy.”
