Playtech BGT strengthens ‘OPAP legacy’ completing retail systems upgrade

FTSE-listed Playtech Plc has confirmed that its sports betting subsidiary Playtech BGT has successfully completed the roll-out and systems upgrade for OPAP, Greece’s largest gambling operator.

Updating the market, Playtech BGT completes its OPAP terminal delivery and systems upgrade project first announced in September 2017.

OPAP’s entire 4,000 Greek retail betting premises will be powered by Playtech BGT modules, supplying Service Betting Terminals (SSBTs) and over-the-counter (OTC) services.

The systems upgrade will see OPAP significantly bolster its pre-match and in-play retail betting offering, whilst further optimising its day-to-day betting shop network management and in-store customer engagements.

Damian Cope, CEO of OPAP, praised Playtech BGT for its delivery: “Playtech BGT Sports brings to OPAP a significant amount of relevant knowledge and expertise. The roll-out of the new OTC solution will add to the ongoing, successful rollout of our SSBTs and contribute to both the improvement of our retail sports-betting offering and the enhancement of the in-shop experience for our customers”.

Armin Sageder, CEO of Playtech BGT Sports, was pleased to have completed one of the firm’s biggest technology projects to date, strengthening a legacy partnership for company stakeholders.

“Our relationship with OPAP is growing impressively, and we look forward to helping the company further develop and transform its offer in Greece
