Fantasy sports operator FanDuel continues its operational expansion with the acquisition of US sports data and analysis provider numberFire.
Detailing the acquisition of the data provider to technology news source Techcrunch.com, FanDuel CEO Nigel Eccles commented that the buy would help FanDuel pursue targets beyond the US daily fantasy sports.
numberFire data provisions will be integrated into FanDuel’s fantasy sports platform, as the operator looks to further please customers data requests. numberFire services will additionally run as an independent service for the sports data market.
Techcrunch confirmed that numberFire founder and CEO Nik Bnaddio will be joining FanDuel, with the rest of his team.
FanDuel who In July secured $275 million in Series E funding, with Google and Time Warner as round investors, stated that it would seek to expand its operational and development competencies in the coming months as it looks to maintain its position as the leading US fantasy operator.
