Giorgio Sandi steps down as Gruppo SNAI Chairman & CEO

Italian gambling operator Gruppo SNAI has announced that Giorgio Sandi is to step down as CEO and Chairman. Sandi’s departure from SNAI governance team, follows the operators May merger with Italian gambling technology provider Cogemat.

The departure of Sandi who had led the operator since 2012, was announced following a governance meeting between SNAI and Cogemat boards. Sandi will be replaced for in the short term by former Alitalia Chairman Gabriele Del Torchio.

Following the full integration of Cogemat operations and services, current Cogemat CEO Fabio Schiavolin will take over leadership of the newly merged operator.

The new business entity will gain 15% of the Italian gambling market, as Cogetech currently services 9% of Italian gambling machines.

Gruppo SNAI governance have further stated that the newly merged group will look to improve interactive capabilities and strengthen retail betting services as the company looks to become Italy’s leading operator.

The SNAI board thanked Sandi’s contribution and leadership to the company’s operations, following a period of change. SNAI governance announced that it looked forward to developing future corporate and growth strategies with Fabio Schiavolin
