Leading daily fantasy sports operator FanDuel has reportedly hired the majority of social gaming operator Zynga’s defunct social sports gaming and fantasy sports division Zynga Sports365.
As part of its ongoing corporate re-structure Zynga announced that it would look to cut some 300 jobs (17% of workforce). The firm further confirmed that it would no longer support in its social sports gaming division.
Following its closure of investment in the division, members of the Sports365 team were made redundant from Zynga’s Orlando based studio.
Technology news sources have reported that FanDuel has hired between 38 to 42 Zynga Sports365 employees, as the operator looks to expand its development team rapidly for the coming months. FanDuel will further open its first office in Orlando to accommodate its new hires.
Zynga ends its participation in the fantasy sports and social sports gaming markets. The games developer managed to release just one title game under the Zynga Sports365 banner – NFL Showdown.
Zynga’s had launched its NFL Showdon product in August 2014, the developer would label the game as its first branded multi-player sports game. Nevertheless take up of the gaming title was poor by its target audience.
