Betfair opens new development office in Cluj Romania

Betfair Chief Technical Officer Paul Cutter has unveiled the company’s new technical development offices in the Romanian city of Cluj. The Cluj development office will staff 330 Betfair employees and will become the operator’s largest technical development centre.

Betfair Romania will be central to the operator’s plans on focusing on in-house product and operational development over third party supplier agreements. In November 2014 Cutter outlined to Betfair investors that the company had restructured and optimised its product operations which would be handled by development and delivery teams in London (UK), Porto (Portugal) and Cluj (Romania).

The Cluj development centre will specialise in a number of Betfair capabilities such as programming, information security, IT infrastructure, technical support and project/product management.

“The new office of Betfair Romania , plans to become a better working environment for our employees an environment that fosters further creativity and innovation of their power , but also facilitate attracting new Betfair talent”. Betfair noted in a corporate statement.

Cluj Mayor Emil Boc attended the opening ceremony of Betfair Romania welcoming representatives of Betfair senior management.
