Suresh Vaghjiani, director of Optimal Payments’ Card Services division, has been elected to the Advisory Board of the Emerging Payments Association (EPA).
The EPA is an organisation set up to help shape the future of emerging payments. Its mission is to make the UK a global leader in payments innovation by attracting investment capital and creating a hospitable regulatory environment for innovators, new entrants and disruptors.
Vaghjiani said: “As an elected advisory board member, I am committed to removing the obstacles that hinder innovation and competition in the emerging payments sector. With many products and services only available via payment schemes, it is paramount that access is available to all on a ‘level playing field’.”
Vaghjiani is well known in the payments industry, and also holds a seat on the advisory panel of the UK Contactless Advisory Committee. Responsible for launching the first ever contactless wristwatch in the UK, he is described as a ‘solution driven innovator’ with a track record for developing products and services that meet customers’ current and future needs.
Tony Craddock, General Director at the EPA, said: “We wanted progressive companies represented on the board, and progressive executives representing those companies. In Suresh we have both – Optimal Payments is ahead of the game in payments, and Suresh is an innovation driver. It’s great to have him head up the EPA’s Project Leadership as well as championing the adoption of emerging payments around the world.”
