BskyB betting and igaming subsidiary Sky Bet confirmed to industry news source Egaming Review, that it had integrated Apple’s TouchID technology within its mobile betting application.

Sky Bet customers will be able to log into their sports betting app using their fingerprints instead of a password or PIN. After a period of testing Sky Bet will look to release the easy access log-in functionality throughout its mobile product inventory.

Speaking to EGR Magazine Andrew Walton Head of Mobile at Sky Betting & Gaming, commented that TouchID functionality had been initially introduced to 10% of its mobile sports Apple iPhone betting customers on Tuesday 22 February.

Walton further confirmed that Sky Bet had now rolled out TouchId to 50% of its Apple iPhone mobile customer base. Walton stated that the feedback to the security and login functionality had been “overwhelmingly positive”.

“We really wanted to be first to market in our sector and we’re chuffed to do so. I think it’ll become far more common in the near future,” Walton added.
