Bloomberg Sports Announce Premiership Projections Tables!

jasonTLondon based Bloomberg Sports (BSports), part of Bloomberg News Group, today unveiled its first ever Barclays Premier League season projections. Using Bloomberg cutting edge analysis and data technologies for forecasting Premiership results and team performance for this upcoming season, BSports aims to help its users further understand football results and make more insightful betting selections.

BSports projections are available to view at the projections www.bsports.com/ProjectedTables. Further BSports projections have been published for Ligue1 France, Spain’s La Liga and Germany Bundesliga.The projections have been prepared using an specially crafted algorithm, that amasses football team information, such as past performance, player impact, squad depth and new transfers effects.

SBC had a chance to look Bloomberg Sports seasons predictions, here is a short summary of their 2013/2014 Premiership predictions

  • Close down to the wire season with Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United in the title mix till the last weeks of the season
  • Chelsea to be crowned Champions with 82 points ahead of Manchester City
  • Arsenal will be more likely to claim the final Champions League place ahead of North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur,

  • Hull City and Crystal Palace to be relegated

Bill Squadron, President of Bloomberg Sports commented on BSports Projections: ‘The table indicates that this season will be a three horse race between Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United with only two points separating all three teams. Chelsea, boosted by the return of Jose Mourinho as Manager and the summer additions Mark Schwarzer, Marco van Ginkel and Andre Schurrle, will be crowned champions next year on 82 points while Manchester City will beat Manchester United to second spot by the finest of margins’

The BSports Table Projection also includes odds for each team winning the league, finishing in the top four, finishing in the top half or finishing in the relegation zone. This is achieved by simulating each match of the season 10,000 times in order to provide an accurate projection for how each team will perform.

Key Statistics:

  • 6.6% chance that all three promoted teams get relegated
  • 93.9% chance that at least one promoted team does get relegated
  • 38.6% chance that Manchester United, Manchester City & Chelsea all finish in the top three
  • 88.9: average number of points needed to win the league
  • 72.8: average number of points needed to ensure a top four finish
  • 36.4: average number of points needed to avoid relegation
