Sportradar appoints Lynn S McCreary to strengthen legal team

Sportradar has strengthened its legal department by appointing Lynn S. McCreary as Chief Legal Officer, as the company continues to press ahead with international growth.

McCreary brings over three decades of experience in legal, business and executive leadership roles to Sportradar, having worked at financial services and payments firm Fiserv for 11 years, serving in the capacity of CLO since 2013.

Her responsibilities at Fiserv included directing the firm’s global legal, ethical and compliance activities, as well as taking an active role in coordinating its M&A strategy, including participating in the acquisition of First Data.

Additional roles have seen McCreary serve as the Managing Partner of Bryan Cave’s San Francisco office, whilst also taking on the responsibilities of Member of the Board of Directors at NASDAQ-lited NMI Holdings, Chairman of the Board of Governors at Washburn University Law School and Trustee of Washburn University.

These roles have seen the new CLO acquire knowledge and understanding of representing clients across a range of complex commercial matters, transactions, disputes and investigations.

Sportradar Global CEO, Carsten Koerl, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Lynn to the Sportradar team. The depth and breadth of her legal, business and leadership acumen will prove invaluable to us as Sportradar enters its next phase of exciting growth.”

McCreary joins Sportradar as the firm pursues a global strategy of expansion, having become a ‘keystone’ partner of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the National Hockey League (NHL) and Major League Baseball (MLB), as well as striking agreements with the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL).

Sportradar’s US expansion strategy had previously been significantly bolstered by its acquisition of Synergy Sports – a market leader in data and analytics of US collegiate athletics – in March, following its takeover of messaging platform Fresh Eight, a partner of FanDuel, Entain, William Hill and LeoVegas.

In addition, the firm has also formed integrity deals with a range of organisations including the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), the Austrian Football Federation (ÖFB), the General Directorate National Police of Bulgaria, the Netherlands Olympic Committee*Dutch Sports Federation (NOC*NSF), and the Swedish Football Association (SvFF).

Commenting on her new role, McCreary stated: “I’m thrilled to join Sportradar, which sits at the exciting intersection of sports entertainment and technology.

“I look forward to working closely with Carsten and the team as we further accelerate Sportradar’s growth in this dynamic industry.”
