PMU begins search for President as Méheut steps down

French sports and horse race betting operator Pari-Mutuel Urbain (PMU) has begun its search for a new President after Bertrand Méheut resigned for the position on 26 May.

The resignation comes as Méheut expressed his plan to ‘devote himself fully to other professional projects as well as to personal commitments’. Cyril Linette will remain as the Director General, taking responsibility for ‘ deciding the company’s strategy, in continuity with the work undertaken for two years’.

PMU praised Méheut’s work in supporting the company in its management capacities, driving the operator forward in fulfilling its ‘innovative and ambitious marketing vision’.

The operator confirmed that a new, non-executive President will be appointed on 9 June at the upcoming General Assembly meeting.

In October, PMU detailed confidence in its ‘revitalisation programme’ after it reported consecutive growth quarters for its racing vertical.

2019 saw PMU undertake an executive team restructure, under the guidance of Cyril Linette, tasked with revamping French racing’s profile to the general public.

At the time, the operator revealed that it had chosen to refocus the PMU as a French betting enterprise, disposing of its international racing assets and ending further diversification activities.
