No Love! Ladbrokes views short lifespan for ITV’s ‘Survival of the Fittest’

SBC News No Love! Ladbrokes views short lifespan for ITV's 'Survival of the Fittest'

Opening its latest TV market for ITV2’s new reality show ‘Survival of the Fittest’, Ladbrokes Entertainment has placed contestant Georgie Clarke as its 5/2 initial market favourite to be crowned ‘Queen of the Savanna’.

First broadcast on Sunday 11 February, ‘Survival of the Fittest’ has been branded as a ‘reality format challenge show’ developed by ITV, which sees ‘hot, young singles sent to the South African Savanna to take part in the ultimate battle of the sexes, involving mental and physical challenges’.

Launching ‘Survival of the Fittest’, ITV executives are seeking to deliver a ‘winter fix’ for viewers of its popular ‘Love Island’ show, which in 2017 broke all viewing records for sister channel ITV2, and further gaining extensive highlight coverage for the broadcaster via social media verticals.

Nevertheless, Ladbrokes Entertainment appears to be cold on ‘Survival of the Fittest’ being recommissioned by ITV bosses. Following mixed reviews of its opener, the bookmaker has placed 2/1 odds that Survival of the Fittest will be canned after just one series.

“It’s early days, but viewers don’t appear to have been overly impressed so far and it’s not a huge price ITV can the show after just one series and put all their effort and resource into Love Island” details Ladbrokes Head of PR Jessica Bridge.

Confirming its winter schedule, ITV2 will be broadcasting daily Survival of the Fittest show updates at 9pm UK time, as the broadcaster seeks to re-energise and re-engage with its Love Island viewership.

Will Survival of the Fittest prove to be a further ‘reality blockbuster series’ for ITV2, or as one Twitter user comments ‘just a cheap creatine knock-off of Love Island’… all will be revealed!
