Team FA – AccaTracker data: No scares as bookmakers enjoy week 2

One away win and two draws in the top five most popular football accumulator matches means that bookmakers have enjoyed another good weekend of results in English football.

Data from AccaTracker, the leading football betting app developed by Team FA, found that only three of the ten most popular matches in people’s accumulators on the second weekend of Premier League action were home wins, while four of them were draws.

With the biggest sides playing across Friday, Sunday and Monday, those playing on the Saturday got more of a look in, with Swansea City’s game against Newcastle United the most popular match in people’s accumulators. As expected the Swans easily dispatched Steve McClaren’s men, but Leicester’s victory at West Ham United will have upset a good proportion of the 10% of bets that included the match, especially after the Hammers’ recent result at the Emirates.

There was also an appetite for some of the big guns in the Championship – 9% of accumulators included Middlesbrough’s match against Bolton Wanderers, a game that saw the favoured home side thrash Neil Lennon’s men 3-0.

Team FA CEO Jamie Knowlson commented: “There’s definitely a Saturday bias to matches chosen by our community for their accumulators. That suggests that our punters prefer a bet to complete on the day rather than roll over to Sunday or even Monday.

“The fact that Liverpool’s home match against Bournemouth, which would regularly have been used as a banker, was played on the Monday night means that our users didn’t have much appetite for including it in their accas.”
