International broadcaster Setanta Sports could soon be offering mobile betting services, a report in yesterday’s Irish Times claims.
The subscription channel, which has operations in Ireland, Australia, and the United States, is reportedly interested in joining 3’s network, Ireland’s fastest growing provider. The article said any future mobile app or product would more than likely tap into SetantaBet.com, the company’s online sportsbook. “This could likely offer in-play betting odds to the player service,” it added.
Three won the government contract to roll out broadband services to rural communities in 2008, and has recently launched 4G services in cities throughout Ireland. The business also acquired Telefónica O2 in May, bringing its market share to 37 per cent and increasing subscriber numbers to more than 2 million active users.
