English 2014/15 Premier League fixtures announced

The World Cup is in full flow, but that hasn’t stopped Premier League bosses from releasing the fixtures for 2014-15.

Defending champions Manchester City travel to Newcastle, while Liverpool play host to Southampton at Anfield on August 16^th, one of only two sides to inflict a rare home defeat on the Reds in the 2013-14 campaign.

Last year’s top two square off against each other a week later at the Etihad, while the first Merseyside derby falls on September 27^th. Manchester United make the short trip across the city to face their noisy neighbours on November 11^th.

The opening round fixtures kick off on August 16th:

• Queens Park Rangers v Hull City
