Winamax nets RC Strasbourg shirt sponsorship ahead of Ligue 1 kick-off

French online sportsbook and poker room Winamax has moved to expand its profile within Ligue 1, confirming that it has become the ‘principal shirt sponsor’ of Racing Club Strasbourg Alsace.

Recognised as one of French football’s oldest teams (founded in 1906), for the next three Ligue 1 seasons’ Winamax confirms that ‘Le Racing will be wearing our red W, on the front of their shirts’.

Confirming the sponsorship, Winamax CEO and Co-Founder Alexandre Roos stated his personal connection with RC Strasbourg, being a native of the province of Alsace.

“It is a great pride, for Christophe Schaming (co-founder) and myself, to start this partnership with Racing. Being both Alsatians, this club represents our roots and reminds us of great moments of joy and emotion”, Roos stated.

Ligue 1 football clubs will begin their new season 2020/2021 campaigns on Friday 21 August, following the immediate termination of all French professional sports last April on the direct orders of the En Marche government enforcing a raft of COVID-19 public protection policies.

August’s restart of French football will see Ligue 1 undertake an image makeover as online food delivery platform UBER Eats becomes the title sponsor of the league – a deal secured under lockdown by the French Football Federation (FFF) as Ligue 1’s biggest ever sponsorship commitment.
