Betsson gains a Big Bola kick-start to its Mexico ambitions

Betsson AB continues its South American expansion agreeing to form a strategic joint-venture with Mexico’s Big Bola Casinos.

The Stockholm-listed online gambling group has announced that Big Bola, one of Mexico’s fourteen federally approved SEGOB gambling operators, will carry its new ‘Betsson Mexico’ sports betting and igaming brand.

Big Bola is recognised as one of Mexico’s leading gambling groups, operating twenty land-based casinos across the Mexican state provinces of Santa Fe, Veracruz, Puebla, Sinaloa and Mexico City DF.

Securing its joint-venture partnership, Betsson and Big Bola will aim to launch the ‘Betsson Mexico’ sportsbook and online casino brand by the end of year trading.

“We are really excited to start this collaboration with Big Bola as we believe they are well suited to help us understand the market better and ensure that our offering not only fits the Mexican culture but also earns the public’s trust,” said Jesper Svensson, CEO of Betsson AB operations.

“Our vision is to provide the best customer experience in the industry and I’m confident that we will manage to replicate this success in Mexico too.”

2020 trading saw Betsson AB significantly expand its South American market footprint, which saw the company launch its new Betsson Colombia brand following its acquisition of ColBet last summer.

Meanwhile, the operator further established new ventures for the imminent launch of the soon-to-be regulated Brazilian and Buenos Aires provinces igaming regimes.

Spearheading its Mexico ambitions, Betsson has stated that it has incorporated a ‘goodwill fund’ for its market duties, which will be maintained under its group-wide  ‘BetssonOne‘ corporate social responsibility trust

Replicating its recent market launches within Colombia and Kenya, Betsson maintains that it will lead safer gambling messages and operator conduct within its new territories.

Emilio Quiros, Director of Operations for Big Bola, said, “We are happy that Betsson Group has chosen to partner with us for their operations in Mexico. We believe that our market expertise and their knowledge and experience about online gaming will result in an outstanding product for Mexico.”
