DAZN promotes ‘trusted hand’ Bruno Rocha to lead Brazilian mission

OTT platform DZAN Group, the company seeking to revolutionise modern sports viewing and broadcasting has announced the appointment of Bruno Rocha as Brazil Executive VP.

Rocha has formerly served as Chief Commercial Officer for Perform Content, the B2B division of DAZN, where he led media partnerships with sports governing bodies such as WTA, FIBA, CONMEBOL and the NFL.

Prior to Perform, Rocha was at the NBA where he worked on business development initiatives across Latin American markets.

In November 2018, DAZN announced that it would launch its OTT service for Brazil by H1 2019, becoming the new home of the Copa Sudamericana, Serie A and Ligue 1 

Rocha, said: “I am thrilled to take up this leadership role at DAZN at a significant moment for sports broadcasting, which is undergoing a major global transformation. It’s no different in Brazil, where consumers are fast adopting the opportunity to watch their favourite content, wherever and whenever they want. We are excited to bring fans a new, personalized and intuitive way to watch their favourite sports on all screens.”

Brazil will become DAZN’s first South American market and ninth overall, with Rocha assuming overall responsibility with regards to ‘DAZN Brasil’ market planning, marketing and management of media rights holders.

Backing the appointment of Rocha, James Rushton, Chief Revenue Officer at DAZN said: “Bruno brings outstanding experience of the sports broadcasting business, having negotiated and led key sports rights initiatives at an international level, as well as in South America. His expertise and leadership will be essential in our journey as we work to quickly establish and grow in a country that is passionate about watching sport.”
