SBC: How did you first get into sports betting ?

Joao: I started my career as a bettor playing poker – especially playing online. At eighteen, I already had an account at betting sites and I betting at sports was something that just happen naturally.

SBC: At what point did you realize that you can make some real money from sports betting?

Joao: I have to admit that before taking bet as a serious activity in my life, I searched sometimes at Google “it’s possible to live from betting” or something like that. When I started to analyse more games, study about markets (not just betting markets) that I realized that betting can be faced like investments and despite a “crazy world”, sometimes sport betting can be much more logical than other kind of investments.

SBC: How did you come to select football as your chosen sport?

Joao: Being crazy about soccer always was something present my entire life. When I was kid, my notebooks was all about annotations about football teams. At my parallel time as bettor, I study football management. Follow football and be an investor is something that is in my DNA and that made my way to become a football tipster.

SBC: What was your best ever bet?

Joao: I remember to back Atlético-PR with an odd @126 at live, at 80′, in a game between Atlético-MG x Atlético-PR. Despite a minimum stake (8 euros) because of limits (I was just with my account open at Bet365, that do not offers a great limit) and not a bet as a punter, it was a feeling, especially because my main bet was over 2.5 at this game and the game ended 1-2.

SBC: What kind of factors do you evaluate before making a selection?

Joao: Everything is important. I always make my main handicap and odds before see the real odds at the bookies. I try to see the market action too, to takes a bet in best moment possible. Despite use “regular stats” at my analysis, I try to work more using subjective factors that domains a football game – but always working with the odds and market.

SBC: What has been the biggest influence on your betting career?

Joao: I don’t have any person from betting that inspire me, but for sure, I have one big philosophy, that since I start to take betting more serious, helps me a lot and is my key to live at this world. This philosophy it is simple and you can explain that with just 3 characters: +EV (Plus Expected Value).

Since I start to bet (and I take that to other fields of my life too) looking for the +EV in my actions everything started to happen – at the same time, in some “lazy” moments, that I start to forget the importance about +EV, everything turned worst too.

I guess that every bettor, in a first stage, wasted some time searching for the Betting’s Holy Grail, some perfect system or something like that – and I can guarantee for sure that this does not exist, but the +EV concept with a lot of hard working is almost that.

SBC: Do you have any future plans in regards to your service?

Joao: I know how hard is follow a tipster that provide a lot of tips like me. That’s the why I plan to split my service, using one to Europe’s football and another one to South America. For the future a little more far, I’m looking to build a project that joins betting with charity.

SBC: What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your betting career?

Joao: It is fair to say that I’m facing a challenge at this moment. I had a bad year of 2013, especially because I let some side factors that happened at Brazil (my main market) without a specific adjustment. Because of that, I let my service and betting be more affected than should be in a bad run. Fortunately, with a lot of hard and smart work we are improving our condition to the same level that we had in our regular time.

SBC: How do you balance your betting time and family life?

Joao: Great question. I try to use a schedule and work a certain time by day, but because of crazy schedule of football games at world, every week I do some adjustments, but I have a golden rule: Monday is my day to rest and enjoy my family. Sometimes I had some bets at Mondays – but bets that I did atSunday and I try to do not follow the game.

SBC: Do you have a favourite team that you follow regularly?

Joao: I used to support Corinthians, but with some years of betting and some bets against my team, I started to understand what a professional from soccer does. It is fair to say that now I understand people like Figo, Vieri, Ibrahimovic, Ronaldo, Romário or Ronaldinho: football is about passion, but if you have chance to profit with that..

SBC: How do you keep calm when you hit a run of losing bets?

Joao: For me – and for many tipsters, one bad run of betting it is even crueller, because if I lose, other people are losing money too. Stay calm at bad runs is easily on of the 5 most important factors of betting. I try to do some actions to don’t have a huge pressure at my bets, like reserve some money to pay my bills 3 months anticipated, don’t use credit to big purchases and try to forget the value of the money that I bet and that I had at my bank at “real world”.

SBC:   How do you organize your bank management?

Joao: My regular stake is 3% of my bank and for “big bets” is 5%. If there is value at two different markets on the same event (handicap and goal line, for example) I don’t have problem to have 6% to 8% on a single game, but that’s an exception and not a modus operandi. I like to adjust my bankroll to this stakes each trimester or if I hit some goal. That way, my stake of 3% sometimes is 1.5% or 2%, or when things didn’t start nice became 4%, 5% – that’s why it is important to don’t adjust your stake all the time, when things going well it’s a paradise, but can became really hard if you don’t have a nice start after adjustments.

SBC: What is the best reason you could give to anyone who was thinking about following your service?

Joao: I have conviction about I’m doing – and I do that with passion, dedication and motivation. I’m a tipster that already had amazing times and I still do that with a nice frequency and consistency. At my bad periods, I never had a down that burned a bankroll. My main market it’s a market not well explored by the market and bookies – but are counting with more liquidity than before. At the same time, I have a nice work at other markets that are bigger too.

I don’t sell tips to make money, I bet my own money at the games that I provide and for me it’s a pleasure to have people making money with my advices.
