ANJ deepens Police cooperation with casino and racetrack security

L’Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ), France’s new unified gambling regulatory authority, has entered into a collaboration agreement with Service Central des Courses et des Jeux (SCCJ) to secure better management and oversight of land-based gambling activities.

The SCCJ, a federal police unit, is responsible for the licensing and conduct supervision of French casino and racetrack venues.

Meanwhile, established this June, the ANJ serves as France’s central governance and policy agency for all forms of gambling and management of key industry requirements related to consumer protections, data management and safer gambling protections.

Central to the collaboration agreement, the ANJ and SCCJ will seek to improve coordination over the management and duties of French gambling monopoly Française des Jeux (FDJ) for lottery and retail sports betting and Pari-Mutuel Urbain (PMU), France’s sanctioned racetrack operator.

In addition, ANJ will seek to streamline data sharing and operator information, with regards to the management of France’s 228 racetracks and 200 licensed land-based casinos.

As a core remit,  ANJ has continued to work with current and former French regulatory bodies and government departments attached to the gambling sector in order to develop a centralised reporting system for all forms of French gambling.

In its June update, ANJ Director-General Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin disclosed that the governing body had prioritised the development of two reference frameworks for French federal gambling protections and a second for licence holders’ AML and conduct duties.
