New look OPAP bolsters its executive management team

Athens-listed Greek gambling group OPAP SA has announced a series of executive C-level appointments to strengthen its commercial development and leadership capacities.

Long-term executive Jan Karas has been promoted to the leadership position of Group Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) having previously served as Chief Operations Officer of OPAP’s retail division.

Karas retail responsibilities have been transferred to OPAP Group Chief Operations Officer (COO) Vaios Karantinos who will lead the firm’s gambling operations across retail and digital verticals.

Further operational changes see long-term OPAP legal and compliance director Nancy Verra appointed to the executive position of Chief Regulatory Officer, leading the Athens enterprise’s group compliance strategy.

Confirming an external appointment,  OPAP governance has recruited Spyros Linaras to the position of ‘Chief People Officer’ leading the group’s HR and talent development programmes.

Linaras is the former Head of Human Resources for Danish dairy food products producer Arla Foods (2017-2019) and has further led HR directives for PepsiCO Europe.

All four appointments are set to become members of OPAP’s executive team, led by Group Chief Executive Damian Cope, reporting to Executive Chairman Kamil Ziegler.
