Liam Johnson named Executive Director for Bath Racecourse

Arena Racing Company (ARC) has continued to strengthen its leadership team after naming Liam Johnson as the new Executive Director for Bath Racecourse.

Prior to his new role, Johnson has worked at the Sports and Leisure Group in an operations management capacity as well as at Nottingham Forest Football Club. He will start work at Bath Racecourse on Tuesday 14 April.

Commenting on the new appointment, Mark Spincer Managing Director of the ARC Racing Division said: “We are delighted to welcome Liam to the team, and look forward to him taking the helm at Bath ahead of the start of the 2020 season.

“His experience within the racing industry, being involved in a number of major racing fixtures along with his leadership experience at Huntingdon Racecourse, will be invaluable at Bath.”

Johnson’s appointment follows six years at Jockey Club Racecourses, including four years in his current role as General Manager of Huntingdon Racecourse.

Johnson added: “I am hugely grateful for my time at Jockey Club Racecourses, where as the first employee to go through the Group Trainee General Manager scheme, I was able to learn a tremendous amount and gain an excellent understanding of the racing industry.

“I am equally excited to get underway at Bath, with some big events planned for the summer and beyond.”

The news comes as ARC named Mark Spincer as its new Managing Director of the company’s Racing Division.

Under his new role, which is effective immediately, Spincer will take responsibility for ARC’s sixteen racecourse sites and four greyhound stadia.
