Rank appoints Karen Whitworth as Audit Chair

London-listed Rank Group Plc has moved to strengthen its governance advisory, confirming the appointment of Karen Whitworth as a Non-Executive Director with immediate effect.

An expert in the financial planning and risk management of large-scale enterprises, Whitworth is the former logistics and supply chain operations director of UK supermarket J Sainsburys Plc (2007-2018).

Updating investors, Rank governance informs that Whitworth will serve the company’s Audit Chair with effect from 21 November and will further maintain a seat on the firm’s remuneration committee.

Furthermore, the executive will hold be a key advisor to Rank Group’s Safer Gambling policy.

Whitworth’s extensive career has seen her lead auditing for Intercontinental Hotel Group Plc, where she held numerous senior positions between 2000 and 2005, and BGS Holdings Limited, an online entertainment business. At present, Whitworth is currently a non-executive director of Tritax Big Box REIT plc.

Confirming the governance appointment, Alex Thursby, Rank’s chairman, said “We are delighted to welcome Karen to the Rank board. Her extensive background in finance and governance, together with significant broad business acumen, will be a real asset to the Group. The board and I very much look forward to working with her over the coming years.”
