It seems that the end may be nigh for former TV favourite The X factor.
Bookmaker William Hill is offering odds of 5/1 that 2015 winner Louisa Johnson will be dropped by her record label before the end of the year. This follows the news that Ben Haenow has become the latest former contestant turned victim to be shown the door Simon Cowell’s record label after just 13 months.
Leon Jackson, Steve Brookstein and James Arthur are three others who have been dumped by the label, Syco, after winning a contract for performances on the show.
William Hill Press Officer Joe Crilly said of the news: “There has been a growing voice suggesting that the X Factor should at the very least be given a rest. The fact that the winner from just 12 months ago has already been dropped is only going to add fuel to that fire.”
The show has suffered a major downturn in viewing numbers in recent series, and coupled with a number of winners failing to even reach the top 40 it’s being speculated that the show may be put to rest.
William Hill is offering a market on the show itself to be axed in 2016 with odds of 6/1 for it to happen, and 1/12 to last out the year.
