With UK temperatures set to plunge this weekend to 3C (37F) in the south and as low as -4C (25F) in the north, UK bookmakers have slashed the odds on a “White Christmas”.
Following a warm October, the Met Office issued a notice that the UK was about to turn much colder as 2015 enters its final months.
Reacting to the Met Office notice, the majority of UK bookmakers have cut their odds from 5/1 to 2/1 for the UK to see snow on December 25.
Yesterday Coral UK alerted the media that they had recorded a “flurry of bets” on Christmas snow, prompting them to cut the odds from 3-1 to even money.
“Punters are convinced we are set for a White Christmas this year as there has been an early gamble on snow falling on Christmas Day where the odds have tumbled following forecasts for a frosty winter,” said John Hill, PR spokesperson from Coral UK.
