The owners of two of the UK’s leading bookmakers are amongst Britain’s 150 wealthiest people, figures from the Sunday Times Rich List reveal.
Bet365 holders, the Coates family, comprised of Peter, Denise and John, have an estimated value of £1.2bn, up from £925m last year. Fred and Peter Done, the owners of Betfred, have also increased their fortune by £100m, now standing at £950m.
According to the guide, which listed the UK’s thousand richest people and Ireland’s top 250 earners, there are 107 combined billionaires. Together, the most affluent people have an estimated £519bn fortune. The list includes games developers, property and business tycoons, as well as celebrity couples and the Queen. A base of £85m was needed to make the list.
