Mobile igaming platform and content provider Nektan Plc has confirmed that it has successfully received approval for both a software and a gaming licence for the UK market from the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC). Since the new regulation was introduced in the UK in late 2014, Nektan had been operating under a Gibraltar continuation licence for UK facing gaming services.

David Gosen, Nektan’s Chief Executive Officer, commented on the UKGC approval

“We are pleased to have received approval for both a software and gaming licence, which allows Nektan to operate our platform for our partners under a local licence in the UK market. The UK is the largest gaming market in Europe and remains a key focus for our continued growth.”

The approval of services by the UKGC, will strengthen Nektan continuing business development within the UK market. The mobile platform has targeted expansion of business services through strategic partnerships with high coverage media partners.

In June Nektan management confirmed the launch of Sun Play white-label mobile gaming app, with News UK media owner of UK newspaper The Sun. Nektan has further announced media gaming partnership with Ireland’s TV3 in 2015.

The platform provider announced that it secured £7.1 million in its latest round of funding through a combination of securing loans and issuing new shares to investors.
