Slovak lottery renews partnership with country’s Olympic Committee

TIPOS, the Slovakian national lottery, will extend its collaboration with the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee (SOSV) by a further five years.

The partnership renewal will see the lottery continue to support Slovakian athletes, with the duo focusing on the training of the country’s Olympic competitors as well as the support of secondary school projects and activities to promote healthy lifestyles among younger demographics.

As a result of the extension – which is typically renewed annually – TUPOS will continue to support and fund the Slovakian Olympic team for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing and 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Marek Kaňka, CEO and Chairman of the Board of TIPOS, said: “Until now, we have always extended the contract only on an annual basis, now we want to do so for up to five years. We believe that our commitment will clearly state that TIPOS is behind Slovak sport.

“At the same time, we see this as a more suitable solution for the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee itself, because it will feel more confident in planning its projects and activities.”

TUPOS and the SOSV have maintained a partnership for 10 years, with the operator having supported Slovakia’s Olympic teams during both the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2014 Sochi and 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

“Together with our long-term partner, we want to continue to support top athletes to successfully represent us at the Olympic Games,” remarked Anton Siekel, President of SOŠV.

“At the same time, however, we want to develop and improve the sports environment in the Slovak Republic. We would like to bring people even closer to a healthy lifestyle, of which sport is an integral part. Exercise and a healthy lifestyle should be a natural part of the day in every family.”
