Svenska Spel backs FSI’s eco-friendly Ski Tour 2020

Svenska Spel has continued its corporate mandate of investing in sports development, after confirming that it has become a principal sponsor of the International Ski Federation‘s (FIS) newly founded ‘Ski Tour 2020’ cross-country skiing championship.

Forming part of the FIS World Ski 2019-2020 calendar, Ski Tour 2020 is cross-country skiing’s newly reformed ‘Nordic classic series’ format, hosting its race stages across the alpine regions of Sweden and Norway (15-23 February).

Event organiser Tour AB and the FIS have underlined that Ski Tour 2020 will be international skiing’s most ecological sustainable event, showcasing how competitive sport can co-exist with its environmental surroundings.

“Securing  Svenska Spel as a sponsor, shows their attitude towards sports and society,” said Patrik Svärd, Managing Partner of Ski Tour 2020.

“Ski Tour 2020 is an event that puts sustainability issues in focus, partly because all transport of riders will take place by train and the investment in sustainability is also important for Svenska Spel.”

Updating the media, Svenska Spel said that the tour partnership strengthens its commitment to developing all forms of Swedish skiing, for which Svenska Spel serves as lead sponsor of Skidor (SSF) – Sweden’s Skiing Association.

Nicklas Biverståhl, sponsorship manager at Svenska Spel, added: “Ski Tour 2020 has really taken sustainability issues to a new level, and this is something we value highly.

“During the winter, together with the cross-country team, we will be raising the sustainability issues in different channels, and therefore it feels extra fun to be a partner of a sporting event where sustainability is the focus.”
