Football aficionado Balague takes up role with Football Index

High-profile football pundit, author and journalist Guillem Balague has joined Football Index as a brand ambassador for the football trading platform.

Balague will host trader events and produce regular, exclusive blogs and videos for the platform, which gives users the ability to buy, sell and build a portfolio of players.

It is hoped that Football Index’s collaboration with Balague will help organically extend its reach among football fans, with Balague boasting a huge social media audience that includes more than one million Twitter followers.

He has written for major newspapers in Spain and England, featured as a pundit on Sky Sports and BBC, and co-wrote with Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino, ‘Brave New World: Inside Pochettino’s Spurs’. He has also written other award winning books on Cristiano Ronaldo, Pep Guardiola and Lionel Messi.

The announcement marks another prominent partnership for the financial and football hybrid. It recently agreed a deal with legendary commentator John Motson to become the voice of Football Index in its television and radio advertising.

Motson covered more than 2000 games at the highest level and can be heard on the London-based FinTech firm’s national TV and radio ads.

Football Index is also the front-of-shirt sponsor for League One outfit Bristol Rovers.
