Holland Casino selects ‘KOA ready’ Nuvei as lead digital payments solution

Holland Casino has appointed Nuvei to lead the payment processing and player verification provisions of its fully-licensed online casino property, in line with the laws and standards of the KOA online gambling regime that launched on 1 October.

Nuvei will provide the Netherlands’ state-owned casino operator with a payment processing and customer verification solution, fully customised to meet the KOA regime’s KYC regulatory demand.

Holland Casino was amongst the first 10 operators to qualify for KOA licences granted by Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) – the Netherlands gambling authority.

The appointment of Nuvei followed an extensive search and examination by Holland Casino of online payment technologies servicing regulated online gambling marketplaces.

“Nuvei was a clear choice for us,” said Jeroen Verkroost, Digital Transformation Director of Holland Casino. “Their team’s track record in supporting businesses in new and complex markets with regulatory considerations is unparalleled.

“Particularly important for us was their experience in the iGaming sector with a nuanced understanding of fraud prevention and anti-money laundering capabilities. We have been impressed by the single-integration setup of the system and the speed of their delivery.”

Nuvei underscored its ability to match the Netherlands’ rigorous anti-money laundering laws and the EU’s revised strong customer authentication (SCA) requirements as part of the Payment Services Directive (PSD2).

Further market credentials see Nuvei serve as an acquiring partner to iDEAL – offering seamless integration with Dutch consumers leading e-wallet solution.

“The team and I are excited to be a part of the Netherlands’ first casino with an online presence,” said Philip Fayer, Nuvei’s Chair and CEO.

“The partnership also marks our first entrance into online gaming in the country, and we’re thrilled to be doing it with such an industry-leading brand. The regulatory ecosystem is both complex and robust, and our team has the expertise, technical know-how, and experience to navigate it without compromising on the user experience for Holland Casino players.”
