Political betting webinar

SBC Webinars presents ‘A Christmas Snap Election Calls’ – a politics betting update

The SBC Webinars series continues on Wednesday 13 November with A Christmas Snap Election Calls, which will see our panel of political betting experts reconvene to discuss their seasonal gift from UK parliamentarians.

News of the first December General Election since 1923 means bookmakers can look forward to closing the year with 2019’s most intriguing betting market, as punters target profits from the big, but unpredictable, questions.

Is this Christmas election simply a thinly-disguised second Brexit referendum? Can Boris Johnson flip Labour’s leave-voting heartlands? Or have bookmakers and pollsters underestimated Jeremy Corbyn again?

Returning by popular demand, the SBC Webinars political betting panel will examine how traders should assess an election taking place amid unprecedented levels of uncertainty and division.

The specially selected panel comprises:

  • Sarbjit Bakhshi – Head of Politics, Smarkets
  • Matt Shaddick – Head of Ladbrokes Politics
  • Steve Donoughue – Owner/CEO of GamblingConsultant.co.uk

Sarbjit Bakhshi said: “I’m looking forward to sharing my views on what may prove to be one of the most unpredictable elections of modern times. With splits in the two main parties, and the unknowable impact of the opposing Brexit Party Ltd and Liberal Democrats, this election will be a trader’s paradise.”

With seasonal factors, party splits, tactical voting, the very different personalities of the opposing leaders and, of course, the long shadow cast by Brexit all having the potential to influence the outcome, our panel will dissect the key issues and narratives driving the election markets.

Join us for what promises to be a lively discussion as our expert panelists deliver their insights on all those questions and more.
