Tabcorp Venues gain Premier League content with Optus broadcast partnership

Australian telecoms and media firm Optus has formed an agreement with Tabcorp Holdings to broadcast English Premier League matches across the operator’s land-based retail network.

The agreement sees Optus open up its exclusive Premier League content, making it available to the general public across 4,500 syndicated Tabcorp venues.

Moving forward, Optus Sports Premier League content will be installed at Tabcorp venues through the operator’s existing Sky Racing broadcast system.

Furthermore, Tabcorp venues will gain a major football boost for 2018, as Optus Sports will broadcast all matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Updating stakeholders, Tabcorp CEO David Attenborough stated that the deal represented a major content and engagement boost for Tabcorp venues division.

“The broadcast of the English Premier League and the 2018 FIFA World Cup to hotels, clubs and TAB agencies will deliver additional benefits to our venue partners,” Attenborough said.

“Outside of the three codes of racing, soccer is consistently one of the most popular sports with Tabcorp customers and the Premier League is the most popular soccer competition.”

Optus management detailed that the Tabcorp venue deal was key to expanding the firms reach and coverage as it seeks to compete against established Australian sports media enterprises.
