The New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB) has selected NYX Gaming sports betting subsidiary OpenBet and Paddy Power Betfair (PPB) to deliver its platform solutions and operational services for its fixed odds betting (FOB) business.

In January 2016, NZRB governance announced that it would work with NYX Gaming on enhancing its FOB services, seeking to update provisions for modern consumer habits and gaining better data and operational infrastructure.

The triple-play partnership will see OpenBet supply NZRB with its lead FOB engine which will be operated by PPB services. NZRB governance has declared that it will support the FOB project with significant funding for the next two years of its development. NZRB further detailed that a new platform would significantly contribute new funds to national racing initiatives and programs.

Updating the media NZRB Chair, Glenda Hughes commented “Both partner organisations have strengths in digital, sport and in-play wagering, which are three of the biggest growth opportunities for NZRB.”

“The new FOB offering will complement our already competitive Tote, putting NZRB in a much stronger position to manage turnover across both products, taking into account customer and channel preferences”

Project stakeholders expect the new platform to be fully delivered and integrated for the start of NZRB 2018/19 racing season.

A pleased Matt Davey, CEO of NYX Gaming Group commented on the project  “We are focused on working with NZRB to develop a best-in-class technology that delivers a great player experience. We are honoured to be selected from what was a highly competitive tender process and excited for the project ahead of us.”

Paddy Power Betfair commented on the partnership “we are delighted to be chosen to partner the NZRB, and look forward to developing a world-class sports and racing product that will deliver a modern and innovative customer experience to the New Zealand public. We believe that the partnership will deliver long-term value for each of the racing codes and sporting bodies across New Zealand through the leveraging of our world class product and systems.”
