BlackFlag – Evolve Labs announces new eSports service

adamsellkeEvolve Labs have launched a new eSports arena called BlackFlag. It will initially focus on Riot Games’ League of Legends (LoL) with teams of five paying a $5 (£3) entry fee to compete for cash prizes.

Launched in 2010 and based in the US, Evolve Labs are the creators of Evolve, the social collaboration platform for PC gamers.

Adam Sellke, CEO of Evolve Labs, said of the announcement: “BlackFlag is a
passion project for the Evolve team and something we have wanted to do for a while.”

He added: “Recently, we participated in a series of AMAs where the idea was embraced by an audience of gamers expressing an overwhelming interest in a competitive gaming service. So, we fast-tracked the idea and turned it into reality.”

Every month over 67 million unique users play in excess of 30 million LoL matches, and over 250,000 already playing 750,000 LoL matches monthly on Evolve, BlackFlag made sense as an addition to Evolve’s offerings.
