Flutter apologises following Sky Vegas email error

Conor Grant, CEO of Flutter Entertainment UK & Ireland, has issued a public apology via the firm’s Twitter channel regarding a recent incident in which Sky Vegas customers were mistakenly sent promotional communications.

Complicating matters is the fact that as a result of the error, which occurred on 2 November, a number of the customers who received the two marketing emails were actively self-excluded from the Sky Vegas platform.

“I would like to sincerely apologise to all those who have been affected by the recent issue at Sky Vegas, whereby a number of people were mistakenly sent promotional communication,” Grant stated.

The CEO further assured customers that the FTSE100-listed gambling group is thoroughly investigating the matter to ensure similar errors do not occur in the future, whilst adding that the UK Gambling Commission was informed of the issue ‘as soon as the error was identified’ and the regulator will be informed as developments continue.

Grant added: “Sky Vegas and indeed all our brands take their responsibility to protect customers extremely seriously. Safer Gambling is our number one focus, and while we haven’t always got everything right, we are determined to do as much as we can to protect those who may be at risk. I recognise that on this occasion we have let many people down and for that I am truly sorry.”

Flutter recently moved to strengthen its responsible betting initiatives and commitments by lowering its net deposit limits for bettors under the age of 25 to £500 per month, whilst also joining the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) following the trade association’s publishing of a combined European sustainability report.
