Read on to discover very contrasting top movie picks, a rich cricketing love and plethora of best betting options.

Best Holiday

Wow – a hard choice. The Maldives for honeymoon was incredible, however I’d have to go with Cape Town over New Year in 2004/05. I went to watch England in the Test match and although we lost, I have lasting memories and friendships from that trip that are still strong today. Cape Town is a truly wonderful and cosmopolitan city steeped in history, it really has it all. Culture, beach, nightlife, wildlife, sunshine. I cannot wait to get back there.

Best Sporting Experience

Millions! Personal favourite is creating the run out to win the Wetherby League Division Three in the mid 90s against a highly fancied Walton team. Many a drink was sunk that night.

Proper sport? The 2005 Ashes. I was at Trent Bridge for the 4th Test that put us 2-1 up. I remember being given my friend’s member’s pass to access the pavilion and was stood gun barrel straight behind Flintoff who was on 99, and Shane Warne was bowling. Warne bowled a maiden and the tension was palpable. Proper cricket that. Wonderful.

I also remember being in Sydney for Warne, McGrath and Langer’s final Test. Of course, the Aussies pummelled us but in the end, the England fans started chanting Justin Langer’s name. He walked three quarters of the way to the boundary, took off his helmet and took a bow. It was a wonderful experience.

Best Album

Stereophonics ‘Word Gets Around’ or Oasis’ ‘What’s The Story Morning Glory’. Take your pick – there’s not a poor song on either album. Both albums also take me back to my youth and stir memories every time I hear a track from them. I reckon I’d have to plump for Word Gets Around if forced to take one. Great lyrics all the way through and fabulous music.

Best Film

It’s another toss up here. Shrek or Se7en. I have an affinity with the former as I’m a touch overweight. Shrek. It’s Shrek! The way the characters of Shrek and Donkey combine is brilliant. Plus, you can see Eddie Murphy every second with Donkey. I love that movie. It was also a highlight to meet them both at Universal Studios last year.

Best Book

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. It is pure literary genius. There’s a particular chapter in the book that discusses a party. The party went on a little bit longer than most people intended and now has been going for years on board a spacecraft. The similarity to that and the iGaming industry is uncanny.

Best Bet

I had Croco Bay in the 16:50 at Cheltenham this year at 66/1. That was tidy. Tiger Roll in the National last year wasn’t bad either, but my best bet would probably be Frodon this year on the Thursday of Cheltenham – wonderful horse, wonderful jockey, wonderful result. Frodon has a seemingly simple style; get to the front and adapt a “thou shalt not pass” mentality. Frodon just doesn’t know how to let another horse pass.
