FansUnite is a sports prediction platform based out of Boulder, Colorado. Having relaunched earlier this year we spoke to company CEO Darius Eghdami about how important the users were in the reformation of the platform and in deciding which new features to bring in.
Eghdami also discussed the importance of social integration, verification via Pinnacle Sports, esports markets and how transparency is at the heart of what they do.
SBC: The new user interface went live in early March. Why the relaunch, what did you learn from before and how has the first month gone?
Darius: The FansUnite relaunch was an opportunity for us to build a platform that was truly for our members. We spoke to many of our active users via email, phone calls and Skype to get an understanding of what features they liked, what new features they wanted and what their pain points with the current site were.
We simplified the entire platform with focused content and Slack-like channels for members to collaborate with like-minded sports bettors. The reception so far has been tremendous. Our members are engaged, making more predictions and continuing to collaborate with the community.
We are currently working on some great new features, which allow our handicappers to make more money by just posting their predictions, as well as a mobile app coming out later this year.
SBC: Social media integration is big this time round and users are able to make an account with Facebook, Twitter or Google+. How important is this to user experience and the growth of FansUnite?
Darius: It’s extremely important to have social integration nowadays. You only have a few moments to capture a visitor, and allowing them to register with a single click gives us the best opportunity to get them registered and showcase the value of our platform. Every extra step to register causes friction and increases the likelihood of the potential user exiting the registration process.
SBC: Can you talk us through your tipster verification system?
Darius: Of course. We have live odds coming in from Pinnacle Sports and our members are able to place their bets up until five minutes before the match begins. We are giving our community a five minute buffer, affording them enough time to get notified when a tipster they follow makes a pick.
Wagers cannot be altered once they are submitted, and our system resolves each match providing the tipster and community with the ROI, profit and win streak upon each match completion.
Transparency is the ethos of FansUnite as we believe the lack of transparency in the industry isn’t doing sports bettors any favors.
SBC: You’re offering esports markets. How much growth are you expecting in this area? Your home North American market is pretty big on this after all.
Darius: The rise of esports has been fascinating to watch over the last couple years and I expect it to continue to grow exponentially.
Existing teams are getting better, hundreds of new teams are being formed, celebrities are starting to acquire teams, prize pools and viewership are increasing; in short the sport is blowing up. We need to continue increasing our exposure in the esports community as the market has shown they’re not only interested in watching, but wagering on it as well.
SBC: With so many tipster communities out there why should users come to FansUnite?
Darius: We value transparency above all else in the FansUnite community. We’ve never altered a bet, deleted a bet or reset any tipsters history. We believe with the right tools and data, sports bettors can be more profitable. We’ve been able to prove that with our PickTracker software and giving our community access to thousands of sports bettors with a fully verified and transparent history.
It’s not about winning or losing a bet tonight, and it’s definitely not a get rich quick scheme; but with the right tools and data, sports betting can be profitable. Our top guys are consistently beating out the returns of some of the best hedge funds and other financial instruments.
Making money is about having an edge, and FansUnite is giving sports bettors that edge.
