Black Boxing Day as bookies take £30 million battering!

sadtraderUK bookmakers had a Boxing Day to forget as they took a combined £30 million hit on Friday’s football fixtures, making it a very merry time of year for football betting punters.

The football fixtures on Friday 26 December saw all betting favourites win their respective matches, as bookmakers cashed out thousands of pounds on winning bets and accumulators.

Coral reported that a customer’s 15 match bet prediction came through when late kick-off Arsenal beat Queens Park Rangers 2-1.

Coral Communications Manager Simon Clare commented on the results:

“At the start of the year we suffered our worst ever day of football losses, and we have Coral’s Simon ended 2014 with a day nearly as bad.

“Hundreds of thousands of football punters have landed themselves a decent christmas bonus but frankly everyone at Coral now can’t wait for 2014 to be over. The Arsenal win against QPR was the final Boxing Day knock-out punch as it alone added over £1 million to Coral’s losses.

The Boxing Day football results are the second black match day for UK bookmakers in 2014.  The weekend of 11 January 2014 ( Premier League 2013/2014 match day 21) cost UK bookmakers a loss of £40 million as all top eight Premier League sides won their matches.
