SBC launches Hall of Fame to recognise individual achievements

Sports Betting Community is proud to announce the launch of the Sports Betting Hall of Fame, a new initiative created to recognise outstanding individual achievements within the sports betting industry.

Hall of FameAt next week’s SBC Awards 2016 on 7 December, SBC will recognise three members of the sports betting community who have made a real difference to the sector over the course of their careers.

The inaugural members of the Hall of Fame are:

  • Mark Blandford – Founder of Sportingbet and gambling industry investor
  • Carsten Koerl – Founder of Sportradar
  • Howard Chisholm – Founder of Bookmakers Technology Consortium and independent bookmaker

The chosen candidates have enjoyed a long career in the industry, and played a prominent role in the public’s awareness and appreciation of the importance of sports betting. They have each displayed a level of innovation, whether that is by improving an industry process or bringing a new product to market.

Andrew McCarron, SBC Managing Director, commented: “It’s high time that the key people in the betting sector were officially recognised for their efforts in enhancing the industry. This is why we have launched the Sports Betting Hall of Fame. Bookmakers get such a bad press so we want to celebrate our leaders and innovators, not just this year, but for years to come.”

Hayley McQueen, a familiar face to viewers of Sky Sports News HD and Sky Sports’ football coverage, has been sponsored by Argyll Entertainment to open the evening and present the 14 company awards, before introducing the three SBC Sports Betting Hall of Fame inductees.

This is a perfect way to round off the awards ceremony and lead into a night of entertainment with the ‘World’s Sexiest DJ’ from 10:30 pm. Kellie Acreman, who has been sponsored by EnergyBet to provide a mix of music throughout the evening, has promised to fuel the end of year celebratory vibe with some ‘kicking beats’.

OPTIMA has been confirmed as the headline sponsor for the event at Under the Bridge night club. The other sponsors are 138.com, Argyll Entertainment, BetBrain for Business, BetConstruct, Betradar, Digital Fuel, EnergyBet, Ganapati, Golden Race, InPlay Sports Data, LeoVegas, Mr Green, Oddslife, SBTech, SIS, Slots Million, Sportito and Vermantia.
