Sport Industry NextGen launches search for 2019 talent

Applications to Sport Industry NextGen 2019 are now open. The free-to-enter programme, now in its fourth year, searches for the best up-and-coming industry professionals across the sport industry hoping to develop their network and potential.

Sport Industry NextGen discovers the rising industry stars and nurtures their talent through a dedicated Leadership Package to better equip them for future leadership roles. This includes a business support package, regular professional networking opportunities and personal development.

The focus is on entrants aged 30 years or younger currently working within the sport industry, who aspire to grow their network, experience and knowledge for responsible leadership.

Nick Keller, chairman of Sport Industry Group, said: “This year the combined group of Sport Industry NextGen Leaders will reach triple figures, which in itself is a hugely powerful, influential and progressive support network.

“Peer to peer networks are becoming so important and for that reason alone I am sure the next group of Leaders and their organisations will find the programme a useful and uplifting experience. Sport Industry NextGen hopes to help more responsible and purposeful leaders in the future and, as business and society’s objectives become more entwined, this is more essential than ever.”

Next year’s Leadership Package will include a variety of experiences with partners and Sport Industry Group, including an Executive Leadership Workshop hosted at the Institute for Sport Business at Loughborough University London; a 24-hour leadership experience with the Inspirational Development Group (IDG) at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst; a workshop from legal experts, Howard Kennedy, a membership to the Sport Industry Breakfast Club 2019; and additional networking and learning opportunities, as well as personal development and an introduction to an expanded and powerful network of like minded peers.

On entering the process, Emily Clarke – recently promoted to head of marketing at Surrey CCC – said: “It’s such a valuable process for self-evaluation. You learn so much about you, what direction you want to take your career, and also you get the opportunity to meet such a valuable network. You meet so many interesting people and you can make the most of meeting people you would never otherwise meet. It’s all set up to enhance and progress you and your career. There are not many other opportunities out there at all, let alone targeted to the sport industry.”

“Take your time over the application form,” added Joanna Gomer, senior consultant – partnerships, Lidl UK. “Be honest, and don’t be afraid to show what you’ve got because you’re probably better than you think you are.”

Entry to Sport Industry NextGen is a free online process. Entries are open here via the Enter tab, and will close at 5pm on Friday 14th September 2018.
