Online bingo and games operator Tombola has committed £5 million towards building its new headquarters in the city of Sunderland (County Durham).
Speaking to North East news sources, Phil Cronin founder of Tombola stated that he wanted to build the ‘best business campus’ for the city of Sunderland.
At present Tombola, which runs the UK’s most popular online bingo room (Tombola.co.uk) employs 310 in its Sunderland headquarters, making it one of the City’s largest employers.
Tombola detailed that it new HQ would be built next to its current base at Wylam Wharf, with the building designed to honour the city’s shipbuilding heritage.
Its new HQ will be designed and implemented by Ryder Architecture, who have worked on North East projects including Newcastle City Library and Durham University’s college dorms.
“One of the things that we’re particularly proud of is that we produce all our own original gaming software and we’re one of the largest employers of game and web developers in the region”. Phil Cronin commented
“Originating and developing the best gaming software means attracting and retaining the best talent in a growing and highly competitive market. Providing world class facilities for our team and future employees will help us achieve this.”
