Detailing wagering insight on its UK ‘EU Referendum’ market, William Hill has revealed that its ‘High Rollers’ favour a ‘Remain’ outcome on 23 June.

This week saw the majority of bookmakers shorten their odds on a UK ‘Leave’ vote to 2/1, offering the shortest price on the outcome since the market opened.

Fighting for their cause, pro-Leave camps have stated that the bookmakers’ slashed odds represent the mood of the general UK public towards the debate.

Nevertheless. William Hill has revealed that it has recorded significant wagers on ‘Remain’ from its ‘big money’ customers, with one Leeds-based punter placing a £60,000 single wager on a pro-EU triumph.

Graham Sharpe William Hill Spokesman commented “At the odds of 2/5 the gentleman, in his mid to late twenties, stands to make a potential profit of £24,000′”

“And he wasn’t the only high-rolling ‘Remain’ punter in action – a client from South West London, who had already staked £20,000, added a further £20,000, so has now staked a total of £40,000 and stands to get back £54,120.”

“It seems the high-rollers fancy ‘Remain’, the smaller money clients are overwhelmingly backing ‘Leave’ “

As its market stands, William Hill reports a 73% chance of a ‘Remain’ outcome versus ‘Leave’ with 31%

The bookmaker revealed that the percentage of individual bets favored the ’Leave’ outcome at 71%. However, the overall money wagered on the market was 73% weighted towards the ‘Remain’ vote.

UK news sources report that the latest ten independent polls relating to the issue favour ‘Leave’ at 45% against ‘Remain’ at 43%, with 12% of the nation as-yet undecided.

Noting the polling numbers, several political commentators have stated that the June referendum will be won by the movement that can convince Britain’s undecided public to vote for their cause.
