Sporting Index – Leicester City to finish next season on 59 points

Spread betting firm Sporting Index has made the bold prediction that English Premier League (EPL) champions Leicester City will finish the 2016/17 EPL season on just 59 points.

The newly crowned domestic champions will need to contend with Champions League participation in addition to the pressure of defending a title, and traders at Sporting Index predict that the Claudio Ranieri-managed side will struggle to emulate this season’s remarkable run.

The 59 points predicted would have seen Leicester City finish in eighth position in the previous three Premier League seasons.

Commenting on its market stats and insight trading Ed Fulton spokesman for Sporting Index, said:

“The incredible Leicester City story will certainly be the subject of documentaries, books, and films in the coming years, but we just don’t see a fairytale sequel happening.

“Next year’s Premier League will feature new managers for both Chelsea and Manchester City, and we may yet see the return of Jose Mourinho to these shores. With a young Tottenham team building for the future on solid foundations, it could be one of the most competitive league campaigns in a long time.

“The Foxes have earned the title fair and square this year, but next season looks likely to be more challenging and they may struggle to even qualify for Europe – finishing on 59 points is the best our traders think Leicester City fans can hope for.”
