ANJ appoints ‘ethics pro’ Christel Fiorina as market integrity lead

l’Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ) has confirmed the appointment of Christel Fiorina as the regulator’s first Market, Compliance and Player Protections Director, helping maintain the market integrity of French gambling’s new unified regulatory era.

A seasoned executive of France’s civil service, Fiorina joins ANJ’s leadership team from DGE – France’s National Enterprise Agency, where she led policy development projects assisting the Ministries of Economy and Finance, Transport and the Environment.

The ANJ highlighted Fiorina’s proven leadership qualities, having implemented policy frameworks helping French agencies regulate video games, esports and artificial intelligence developments.

“Fiorina will be in charge of the economic regulation of the gambling market, in particular the commercial policies and promotional strategies of operators and the prevention of excessive gambling,” the ANJ statement read.

Further to her public policy experience, Fiorina serves as a lecturer on data ethics at the Universite de Lorraine.

Fiorina joins the ANJ, as the regulatory agency continues to overhaul all French gambling’s regulatory frameworks across land-based and online disciplines.

2021 proceedings, saw the ANJ secure the rights to operate French gambling self-exclusion registry, in which the agency has chosen to overhaul the system in-line with its new player protection directives.

Meanwhile, last month, ANJ President Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin signed off on a ‘collaborative accord’ with OFDT – the French ‘Observatory for Drugs and Drug Addiction’ which will aim to provide France’s public health and policing agencies with accurate data on the treatment of gambling disorders
