Sisal backs Turin innovation lab to nurture its tech workforce talent

Sisal, the operating firm of Italy’s SuperEnlatto lottery draw, has launched its founding ‘Innovation Lab’ hosted at Turin’s prestigious Agnelli Foundation academic centre.

The Lab forms part of Sisal’s wider ‘economic and investment charter’, in which the company seeks to train Italy’s emerging workforce in the future technology fields of artificial intelligence, digital transformation and the engineering of advanced technology platforms.

Sisal will also utilise the innovation lab as a talent development resource for its workforce, in which 500 employees are currently being trained to learn new IT skills.

The Italian operator underlined the significance of the innovation lab helping support the firm’s operations and workforce, after the company enlarged its global footprint through back-to-back national lottery contract wins in Morocco and Turkey.

“Over the last few years we have made great strides: the offer has been extended to new countries, we have created new platforms for game with the will to be the market leader in technologies, we have invested in Data Platform and Artificial Intelligence, as well as revolutionizing our digital offer,” explained Mario Martinelli, Chief Information Officer of Sisal.

“I am very satisfied with this new goal: the creation of a pole dedicated to innovation that will be able to dedicate medium to long term, focusing on ideas, on the enhancement of talents, on experimentation and research, helping the whole company to look beyond.”

Sisal underscored the significance of launching its innovation lab in Turin as the birthplace of Italian industry and the home of global conglomerates FIAT, Lavazza, Iveco, Manpower Group and Capgemini Engineering.

“With this initiative, Sisal wants to create an external observatory on digital issues and at the same time a great incubator of ideas that can then be translated into concrete projects to be developed within the company,” said Davide Filizola, Chief Digital Officer of Sisal and project stakeholder.

“This is why it will be essential to address strategic issues for our business, such as the implementation of artificial intelligence applied in Responsible Gaming, a pillar of our sustainability strategy.”
