DCMS confirms Boggis & Palmour as National Lottery Community Fund board members

The UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) has confirmed the appointments of civil service and fundraising veterans Emma Boggis and Danielle Palmour as Board members of the ‘National Lottery Community Fund’.

The Community Fund, which is commonly known as the ‘Big Lottery Fund’, acts as an independent public body responsible for distributing money raised by National Lottery games/draws to ‘good causes’.

Furthermore, the Community Fund’s board oversees the application and review processes for lottery grants, which are available to UK registered charities, local authorities, community initiatives and social enterprises.

Since its inception in 2004, the Community Fund has supported over 130,000 UK projects, with a reported £9 billion in funding donated for UK social/charitable directives.

In its update, DCMS confirms the appointment of UK civil service executive Emma Boggis as a new board member of the Community Fund. A twenty-year public policy veteran, Boggis is the former leader the Olympic Legacy Unit and British Paralympic Association.

A keen sports enthusiast, Boggis has further served the UK Foreign Office as Deputy Head for the British Embassy in Madrid and sits as a Trustee of the National Paralympic Heritage Trust

The Community Fund will be further supported by the board appointment of Danielle Palmour a leading figurehead in private sector civic/charitable fundraising.

Palmour is the Director of the Friends Provident Foundation, the independent grant-making and social investment trust of international pension fund Friends Provident and has further helped establish UK private enterprise social fund Big Social Capital.

Palmour has further advised the government on racial equality and civic inclusion, as a former senior policy advisor for the Law Society of England & Wales.

As new board members of the National Lottery Community Fund Boggis and Palmour will serve on a fixed four-year term commencing 11 February 2019.
