Telefonica delivers global operating system for Grupo Codere

Bolsa Madrid gambling operator Grupo Codere, details that it has delivered on a major directive of its ongoing digitisation strategy, as the firm migrates fully to a cloud operating system powered by Telefonica and Hewlett Packard Business Enterprise.

Updating the media and stakeholders, Codere details that all global divisions will be supported by a new ‘Microsoft Azure Stack (MASaaS) operating framework, which will be maintained by Spanish telecoms giant Telefonica, within its Basque Country data centres.

Branded as a major milestone for the Spanish gambling group’s ‘digital makeover’, Codere governance states that a new end-to-end operating solution was needed to power the firm’s global profile and future growth initiatives.

Specifying the group-wide benefits of its new ‘single-point MASaaS framework’, Codere states that its global operations will gain a deeper agility to optimise for its multiple jurisdictional demands – significantly reducing group costs, whilst deploying end-to-end products/services faster to market.

Further all-round benefits will see, Codere support its global operations with an enhanced data capacity bolstering regional security, integrity and confidentiality provisions.

In addition, Codere’s regional teams will benefit from an aligned and enhanced cloud capacity, facilitating product integrations, payment processing, data gathering and market scalability.

Miguel Ángel Prieto Hortal, Head of DevOps at Codere stated to Spanish Industry news source InfoPlay.es, that the gambling group had allocated 20% of its technology budget in developing and delivering its new MASaaS operating system.

This January, Codere governance moved to soothe investor concerns, presenting the Spanish legacy gambling group’s ‘Horizon 2021 – corporate transformation programme’, in which the company’s executive team detailed that Codere would focus on three key areas of growth – delivering a digital makeover, securing new Mexican licenses and entering/expanding within the target market of Brazil.
